Marine ad salesman dies at 48Posted on
Richard Drew Rasor Jr. of Larchmont, N.Y., who had a successful career in advertising sales for several magazines, including Yachting, died suddenly last Wednesday at the age of 48 while on vacation with his family.
He leaves behind his wife Kathleen Brustman Rasor, and children Drew, 13, Ryan, 12, Katie, 9, and Robbie, 6. He is also survived by his parents, four sisters, a brother and numerous nieces and nephews.
“We lost one of the good guys,” said Ed Baker, publisher of Bonnier Corp.’s Yachting and Salt Water Sportsman. “I know of no one out there who could say anything bad about Rich.”
Baker started working with Rasor at (then Yachting owner) Times Mirror Co. in 1990 and Baker says he watched his friend rise from a non-endemic ad sales rep to the director of the department.
Rasor was a longtime member of the Larchmont Yacht Club and a dedicated recreational boater who loved the on-the-water lifestyle. He owned a variety of boats through the years, Baker said, but his favorite was his 18-foot Boston Whaler.
“He was an avid boater, a true family man and he was a great friend to a lot of people,” Baker said.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to The Rasor Family Trust 2010, in care of The Golden Shoestring (Junior League of Westchester on the Sound), 149 Larchmont Ave., Larchmont, NY 10538.
A funeral Mass was held this morning at Saint Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church in Larchmont.
