NMEA seeks nominations, adds magazine editionPosted on
The National Marine Electronics Association is accepting nominations from manufacturers for its Technology Award.
Set to be presented Oct. 2 during the NMEA International Marine Electronics Conference and Expo, the Technology Award singles out the best new marine electronics product.
Introduced in 2009, the Technology Award recognizes recently introduced products that advance technology within the marine electronics industry. The award will be given to the product judged “best” based on a combination of innovative design, benefit to boaters, practicality and value.
“The response from manufacturers to last year’s Technology Award was overwhelming,” said David Hayden, president and executive director of NMEA. “We anticipate an equally strong showing this year. We’re indebted to the very able and objective judges from BWI, who have agreed to assist us once again and select the winner for the 2010 Technology Award.”
In other news, the NMEA is launching an international issue of its Marine Electronics Journal, which will be presented in November at the METS trade fair in Amsterdam.
“We are delighted to launch our November/December issue as an international issue that will be distributed in print and digital formats to the marine electronics industry worldwide,” said Ken Englert, chairman of the board of the Marine Electronics Journal and president of Maritime Communications Inc. in Marina del Rey, Calif.
The international edition will be distributed to all NMEA members and all regular subscribers in addition to special international distribution, he said. The international edition will not affect publication of normal issues of the Marine Electronics Journal for NMEA members.
