Newport show to mark 40th anniversary

Posted on

The Newport International Boat Show, which runs Sept. 16-19 in Newport, R.I., is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.

One of the largest in-water boat shows in the country, the Newport International Boat Show covers more than 13 acres along America’s Cup Avenue.

More than 750 exhibitors with more than 600 boats, ranging in size from 16 to 85 feet, are expected to be on display, including express cruising yachts, racing sailboats, ocean-going trawlers at PassageMaker magazine’s TrawlerPort, a Multihull Lagoon, plus DownEast styles, sportfishing boats, runabouts, kayaks, canoes and inflatables.

There also are engines, sails, equipment, safety products and electronics, plus thousands of accessories and marine services, as well as seminars, demonstrations and workshops.

VIP day is set for Sept. 16 and an America’s Cup 12-meter legends reunion is also set for that day. That event will be moderated by Gary Jobson, ESPN’s yachting commentator and co-chairman of the reunion.
