Furuno USA was awarded a multiyear, multimillion-dollar Coast Guard contract, the company announced.

The contract is for the replacement of as many as 200 aging radars on the Coast Guard’s cutter fleet. The fleet consists of a variety of vessels, including 87-foot coastal patrol boats, 140-foot icebreaking tugs, 160-foot inland buoy tenders, 225-foot seagoing buoy tenders and 399-foot nuclear icebreakers.

“We are proud of our relationship with the U.S. Coast Guard and look forward to providing them with cutting-edge navigation solutions for many years to come,” company president Jim Atteridge said in a statement. “Our commitment to the U.S. Coast Guard goes far beyond our products, as we also have top-notch service depots in more ports around the world than any other marine electronics manufacturer.”
