N.J. trade group to offer scholarshipsPosted on
The Marine Trades Association of New Jersey announced the availability of two education scholarships for the 2011-12 school year that are open to students interested in a career in the recreational marine industry.
The first scholarship is a $1,500 MTA/NJ award that can be applied toward any marine trades program at any school.
In addition, the Automotive Training Center in Pennsylvania is sponsoring a half scholarship, valued at $9,000, to students who are interested in its marine technician program and/or marine service technology program.
Both scholarships are open to any New Jersey resident who has or will have recently graduated from high school and has a strong desire to succeed in a marine industry vocational/technical program to further their education in the marine industry.
Applications are due April 1.
“In today’s economy, it is important for individuals to explore all of the opportunities and careers that are available to them and the boating industry is the perfect place to start,” MTA/NJ executive director Melissa Danko said in a statement.
“There are many rewarding, exciting and year-round careers in the marine trades,” she added. “It is our hope that by offering these scholarships, we are not only providing an opportunity for someone to find the perfect career for them, but raising awareness of all that the boating industry offers.”
