Caterpillar reports drop in marine engine sales

Caterpillar continued to report a decline in marine engine sales, according to documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Sales in the segment were down 15 percent in December, compared with December 2009. Sales were down 4 percent in November and 14 percent in October 2010, compared with those months in 2009, the company reported.

All other sectors in which Caterpillar sells engines reported an increase in sales for December 2010.
