Miami show opens Thursday, with Trade Only reporting

The marine industry heads south this week for one of its largest U.S. events – the Miami International Boat Show – which runs Thursday through Monday.

About 2,000 exhibitors are expected at this year’s show, and the National Marine Manufacturers Association is hoping to attract 100,000 people or more. Along with Strictly Sail Miami, the show takes place at three venues – the Miami Beach Convention Center, the Sea Isle Marina & Yachting Center and Miamarina at Bayside.

Running concurrently is Show Management’s Yacht & Brokerage Show, which will feature between 400 and 500 boats.

With increased attendance and sales reported at many recent winter boat shows, along with increased optimism seen coming out of the Fort Lauderdale show, many are confident that this year’s Miami event will meet or exceed expectations.

“We look at Miami not only as an important selling show, but also as an opportunity to showcase our products to … dealers in North America and internationally,” Steve Tadd, marketing director at Nautic Global Group, previously told Soundings Trade Only.

An industry breakfast will be held Thursday morning before the show opens. It will feature discussions about the state of the industry, ramping up Discover Boating and the annual Innovation Awards.

Trade Only will be reporting live from the show this week. Look for our daily reports on Trade Only Today.
