Dr. Shrink joins in earthquake relief effort in Japan

Posted on

Dr. Shrink, in partnership with Transhield, donated 50 disaster shelters to help Japanese residents in the post-earthquake recovery.

The two shrink-wrap suppliers designed and built lightweight structures for survivors to inhabit as the nation rebuilds. The shelters will go to the village of Rikuzen Takada, in Iwate Prefecture, one of the areas hit hardest by the tsunami.

“Currently, there is no housing available, so the Dr. Shrink, Inc. disaster shelters will be a big help to the community as they rebuild,” Dr. Shrink president Mike Stenberg said in a statement. “Our hearts go out to the people of Japan and we’re doing what we can to help them.”

The shelters are made of sewn shrink wrap with a non-woven fabric liner. They have screened windows for viewing, vents for increased air flow and a waterproof floor. No tools are needed to erect them.
