NMMA reports recent boat show attendance numbers

Posted on

The National Marine Manufacturers Association is reporting decent results from its most recent boat shows.

The Progressive Insurance New England Boat Show, which wrapped up Sunday, saw a 2 percent increase in attendance. There were 44,051 visitors this year, versus 43,086 in 2011.

The Progressive Insurance St. Louis Boat & Sportshow, which ended Feb. 12, attracted 29,504 visitors — a 4 percent decrease from 2011, when 30,664 people came out to the show.

“While attendance has been a mixed bag in 2012, show organizers from New England and St. Louis saw highly qualified crowds, with many exhibitors reporting stronger sales on new boats and marine accessories,” the NMMA said in a statement.

Attendance figures were not yet available for the Miami show, which wrapped up Monday.

The NMMA’s last winter show is the Progressive Insurance Northwest Sportshow, set for March 28-April 1 in Minneapolis.

I would like to know if TO or NMMA has attendance records for all North American indoor and outdoor boat shows over the past few years? It would be very interesting to tie in yearly National GDP averages in relation to boat show attendance.

Thanks and I look forward to your reply,
