Marine companies receive variety of awardsPosted on
Independent Boat Builders Inc., EdgeWater Boats and Longboat Key Club Moorings recently received honors.
Syrgis, an international group of specialty chemical manufacturers, announced that Independent Boat Builders Inc. is the recipient of the 2012 Syrging Ahead Award for its use of chemistry to advance innovation in boatbuilding.
The award was presented to IBBI president Tom Broy in a ceremony at the American Composites Manufacturers Association’s Composites 2012 show, which was recently held in Las Vegas.
The Syrging Ahead Award recognizes Syrgis customers that are capitalizing on chemistry and its offerings to make significant strides in safety, environmental, quality, process advancement or novel applications.
IBBI was formed as a marine purchasing cooperative in 1989 by a group of independent recreational boatbuilders.

EdgeWater Power Boats was recently honored with a Gold Addy Award and a Judge’s Choice Award from the American Advertising Federation of Daytona Beach, Fla., for its website and design.
“We are very flattered by these industry awards. They represent a lot of hard work by Zgraph executing our strategic vision for our website and social media,” EdgeWater sales and marketing manager Peter Orlando said in a statement.

The Sarasota (Fla.) Herald Tribune’s Readers’ Choice Poll named Longboat Key Club Moorings as one of the Top Three Boat Yards and Marinas in Sarasota.
This is the first time the marina has receive the recognition.
“We are thrilled to be included in this year’s Readers’ Choice Poll,” Longboat Key Club & Resort general manager Michael Welly said in a statement. “Sarasota is home to some of the most beautiful and exclusive pleasure boats and yachts in the world and we take great pride in the fact that our Longboat Key Club Moorings can accommodate the service requirements that luxury vessels of that caliber demand.”
