Bellingham Marine finishes California marina renovationPosted on
Bellport’s Lido Yacht Anchorage & Drystack in California recently completed a renovation that included the removal and replacement of a portion of the marina’s docks, according to Bellingham Marine, which did the renovation.
The work was scheduled to coincide with a large dredge project in the Rhine Channel. The docks were removed last July to facilitate the removal of more than 90,000 cubic yards of dirt laced with mercury, pesticides and other toxic chemicals.
With the completion of the dredge project in November, Bellingham began to install the Newport Beach marina’s new docks. New locker boxes, power centers and fire hose cabinets also were installed. During the renovation electrical components, potable water lines and fire-suppression infrastructure were also upgraded.
The new docks feature a southern yellow pine deck enhanced with a moisture inhibitor to extend the dock’s service life.
The marina received final approval from the fire department on April 3.
A popular destination for all boating activities, Newport Harbor is an artificial harbor that was formed by dredging an estuary during the early 1900s. Once a thriving port for maritime industries such as boatbuilding, shipbuilding, and commercial fishing, the harbor now is used mostly for recreation.
