Outboard service startup opens in North Carolina

Posted on

Anchors Away Boatyard, in Hampstead, N.C., now offers certified outboard service for Honda, Mercury, Yamaha and Suzuki through a new partnership with Black Dog Marine.

Black Dog is a new company whose principal, Eric Wingo, has been in the marine repair business for nearly two decades.

“I think the industry trend is toward smaller, more fuel-efficient boats,” Wingo said in a statement. “Outboards deliver on that. With the economy starting to look a little better, I think it’s the perfect time to start a company offering certified mechanical services to outboard boaters.”

Black Dog will operate at the Anchors Away Boatyard.

“Having Eric and the rest of the Black Dog Marine crew here means we can offer all the important services to outboard boat owners — storage, trailer repair, electrical, electronics, tune-ups and major repairs,” Anchors Away general manager Chris Bubin said in a statement.
