IMI offers training program in SeptemberPosted on
The International Marina Institute is offering its Intermediate Marina Manager program Sept. 12-14 in San Francisco.
IMI, a subsidiary of the Association of Marina Industries, is partnering with the California Association of Harbor Masters & Port Captains to offer the course — a steppingstone to the Advanced Marina Management school.
Candidates must successfully complete the intermediate program before graduating to the advanced schooling that earns the Certified Marina Manager title.
The course covers marina-specific topics that include marina law, contracts, risks and liabilities, staff management, fire and emergency-response planning, environmental management, health and safety compliance and the timely question of how best to market a marina to stay competitive in a difficult economy.
The program also offers case studies and instruction from experts.
IMI training coordinator Kayce Florio praised the partnership with the California group because it helps keep costs down and passes savings to attendees.
“This is a first run at partnering with a trade association to deliver our training programs. We are hopeful this is a trend that will continue,” Florio said in a statement.
Class fees, including lunches and all course materials, are $1,495 for AMI or CAHMPC members and $1,795 for non-members.
IMI has been training and certifying marina personnel for more than 25 years and offers courses in intermediate marina management and advanced marina management, as well as providing qualified members with the coveted Certified Marina Manager designation. Nearly 300 managers, representing some of the top marinas in the world, have successfully completed IMI’s Certified Marina Manager program.
