Sunsail fleet delivered to San FranciscoPosted on
Eight Sunsail First 40 yachts were recently delivered to San Francisco, the company’s first West Coast base.
The fleet subsequently traveled by water to Svendsen’s Boat Works in Alameda, Calif., where new masts and rigging are being installed to make the boats charter-ready.
“We are very pleased to be partnering with Sunsail on this expansion of their business,” Svendsen vice president Sean Svendsen said in a statement. “The arrival of the fleet is a strong indicator of the positive effect America’s Cup is already having on the Bay Area maritime industry.”
The 34th America’s Cup will be held next year in San Francisco Bay.
The new Sunsail First 40s, built by Beneteau to Sunsail specifications, feature a heated three-cabin, one-bathroom layout; a large wheel helm in a spacious open cockpit; a generous sail plan with spinnaker gear; and a chart plotter/ autopilot system.
Once it is commissioned, the Sunsail fleet will be berthed in Sausalito Yacht Harbor for corporate meetings and events, team building and leadership programs, racing packages for major events and local regattas, ASA-certified sailing school courses and yacht charters, with or without a skipper.
Sunsail offers more than 800 yachts in 30 locations worldwide.
