VIDEO: Drought closes boat ramps in Colorado

Posted on

Boat ramps at a Colorado reservoir are closing for the rest of the year as the water level drops because of drought conditions.

Ramps across the country have closed as drought conditions worsen, according to news reports.

The boat ramps at Williams Fork reservoir no longer reach the surface of the water, according to the Summit Daily News in Colorado.

“This has been a challenging year for reservoir operators all across Colorado,” the utility’s recreation manager said in a statement, according to the newspaper. “We wish we were able to keep the boat ramp open longer, but unfortunately the drought conditions have prevented that from happening. Anglers can still enjoy the reservoir with hand-launched boats.”

The ramp will remain closed for the rest of the year.

Only small hand-launched boats, including canoes, kayaks and belly boats, will be able to access the reservoir. No motorboats will be allowed.
