Professional speaker and renowned author John Spence will deliver the keynote address Jan. 31 at the 2013 International Marina & Boatyard Conference in Fort Lauderdale.

Spence will present “Business Excellence — Running and Sustaining a Highly Successful Business” at the conference, produced by the Association of Marina Industries, which is set to take place Jan. 30-Feb. 1 at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center.

“John Spence’s thoroughness and desire to speak directly to our audience sets him apart from many other professional speakers,” AMI president Jim Frye said in a statement. “He is uniquely qualified to kick off IMBC 2013 because he insists on interviewing key marina professionals and is thoroughly examining what is happening within the marina and boatyard industry. He really does his research.”

For his keynote address at IMBC, Spence will present his most intensive business improvement session to help IMBC participants understand the essential strategies for building and sustaining a highly successful organization. Based on his work with more than 300 companies worldwide, Spence will share his best tools and ideas for how to improve business, gain market share and increase revenue, even in a tough economy.

Named one of the Top 100 Business Thought Leaders in America, Spence is the former CEO of an international Rockefeller foundation and has been speaking professionally for nearly 20 years to such organizations as Microsoft, IBM, GE, Abbott, Merrill Lynch, AT&T, Verizon, Qualcomm and State Farm.

Spence is also the author of “Excellence by Design — the six key characteristics of outstanding leaders” and “Awesomely Simple — essential business strategies for turning ideas into action.” He has been a guest lecturer at more than 90 colleges and universities, including Harvard, Rutgers, Brown, Stanford and the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
