Larson brings back its All-American 23Posted on
Larson Boat Group started its 100th-year celebration with its dealer meeting and the reintroduction of the All-American 23, a resurrection of one of the brand’s most popular models, which the builder produced from the 1960s to the 1990s.
“It was the most fun I’ve had in 28 years in the boat business,” Larson executive vice president and COO Mike O’Connell told Soundings Trade Only. “At the end of the day it was a hundred years of preparation that made it come off right. You’ve got this 100-year history to talk about and coming out of this recession we’re getting poised for the next hundred years.”
The All-American is an open-bow runabout that helped the Little Falls, Minn.-based company make a name for itself in the 1960s.
“The All-American is a classic family cruising boat that harkens back to the simple, yet elegantly styled boats that Larson was famous for in the 1960s. This is a boat that’s going to appeal to a wide variety of boating enthusiasts.” Larson president Al Kuebelbeck said in a statement. “It’s been designed with classic lines and retro styling as a nod to our company’s rich, 100-year history of boating.”
The model is built with Larson’s patented VEC Technology hull and is available with tan or dark-blue accent colors. The boat was designed to commemorate the 100-year celebration of Larson Boat Group and was unveiled Aug. 19 at the company’s 2013 dealer meeting.
At the meeting, a DVD was shown depicting the highs and lows of the last 100 years, O’Connell told Trade Only.
“It took us 100 years to get to this point and not only are we alive, we’re well. Now let’s go forward,” O’Connell said.
Larson, which makes Larson, Triumph and Striper boats, unveiled 51 new models at the dealer meeting, O’Connell said. Despite ambitious expectations for dealer orders, many projections were exceeded.
