Complimentary media registration is taking place for the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers Annual Meeting and Expo, which runs Oct. 24-26 in Providence, R.I.

After meetings in Houston and Bellevue, Wash., in 2010, SNAME returns to Providence on a three-year/three-coast rotation, according to organizers.

This year’s meeting focuses on quality technical content with more than 40 hours of peer-reviewed papers, special panel discussions and training and recruitment sessions.

The themes for the four panels with interactive discussions are:

• Polar patrol

• Fast service, patrol and combat craft

• Offshore wind and the role of naval architects, marine engineers and ocean engineers

• Indigenous naval architecture

There also will be a special young professionals and 50-year member panel session titled “1,150 Years of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering.”
