NMMA boat shows receive events honor

The International Association of Exhibitions and Events announced its Top Public Events for 2012, including four of the National Marine Manufacturers Association’s boat and sportshows.

“We’re honored to receive IAEE’s prestigious award for four NMMA boat and sportshows,” NMMA executive vice president Ben Wold said in a statement. “As the recreational boating industry regains its footing and focuses on business growth, we continue to look for opportunities to make changes to adapt for today’s consumer and give them an experience to discover the boating and outdoors lifestyle. This recognition is a testament to our mission to deliver exceptional consumer boating and outdoors events across the nation.”

The awards were received in the Established Events category: the Progressive Insurance Chicago Boat, Sports & RV Show; Progressive Insurance New England Boat Show; Progressive Insurance New York Boat Show; and Progressive Insurance St. Louis Boat & Sportshow.

Each year, thousands of business-to-consumer events take place in the United States. The IAEE’s panel of independent judges evaluated those that applied for recognition. The IAEE honors public events in two categories: established events and new launches. Among the criteria measured were event demographics, best practices, customer service initiatives, employee training and motivation, innovations in marketing, and exhibitor and attendee support.

“NMMA’s boat and sportshow award winners have set the bar for top boating and outdoors events and deserve to be recognized for their longevity and stability, excellent customer service, exhibitor and attendee satisfaction, and most importantly, for incorporating innovative methods to build exhibitor and attendee participation during challenging economic times,” IAEE president David DuBois said in a statement.

This year’s IAEE Top Public Events will be recognized Dec. 4-6 at the group’s annual in Orlando, Fla. The IAEE Top Public Events program was established in 2011 to honor the best consumer shows across the nation.
