Application process under way for hurricane assistancePosted on
Federal aid is now available as needed under the major disaster declaration that President Obama issued for Connecticut, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York and West Virginia in connection with Hurricane Sandy.
Aid can include rental payments for temporary housing for those whose homes are unlivable; loans for small businesses that have suffered disaster-related cash flow problems and need funds for working capital to recover; and payment of eligible costs for removing debris from public areas and for emergency measures, including direct federal assistance, taken to save lives and protect property and public health, according to the National Marine Manufacturers Association.
The U.S. Small Business Association is also committed to providing longer-term loans to rebuild businesses and buy inventory. The SBA is also a resource for assistance with business planning.
