Cruising Outpost will debut at St. Petersburg showPosted on
Cruising Outpost Magazine will make its print debut at the St. Petersburg Power & Sailboat Show, which opens Thursday and runs through Sunday.
The quarterly publication is the newest from Bob Bitchin, the former publisher of the now defunct Latitudes & Attitudes, who gave up rights to the popular title after a sale to investors went awry.
Cruising Outpost celebrates the liveaboard and cruising lifestyle rather than focusing on the boats, similar to the last publication by Bitchin, whose birth name is Robert Lipkin.
“Stop by the Cruising Outpost booth and say hi,” Bitchin said in an email to subscribers to his online forum. “We will have the new Cruising Outpost Magazine there, in print. Join the party!”
“The St. Pete Boat Show has always been one of our favorites,” Bitchin said in the email.
Bitchin and Capt. Woody Henderson, who had been on board with the original “Lats&Atts” staff since the early days, will give a seminar at 4:45 p.m. Saturday in Tent A.
At 7 p.m., the Bitchin Group will host the Eric Stone Band with free pizza, beer and soda. Net proceeds from a raffle, which will include more than $12,000 in prizes, will go to refitting the Charles W. Morgan at the Mystic Seaport museum in Mystic, Conn.
First prize will be a one-week charter in the Caribbean on a Dream Yacht Charter Catamaran, a Spectra Watermaker from Peterson Marine and a WinchRite Electric Winch Handle from Sailology. Winners must be present.
