Marine Electronic SA will spin off satellite businessPosted on
Switzerland-based Marine Electronic SA announced that it will split into two entities, creating a new arm designated to land-based satellite endeavors.
The two companies will be called Satellite Communication SA and Marine Electronic SARL.
Marine Electronic SA, founded in 1980 and acquired by John R. Svalander 10 years ago, has expanded particularly rapidly in all of the areas related to satellite communication.
“The name Marine Electronic SA does not properly describe our increased expansion and commitment in the various segments of satellite communication,” CEO John R. Svalander said in a statement. “We focus on terrestrial and marine segments of satellite communication, but the terrestrial area is increasingly important, hence the name Satellite Communication SA to accurately define our focus.”
“Of course, we will continue to market marine electronics for navigation, safety and communication, but the fantastic opportunities in satellite communication require exclusive attention because the user requirements are extremely stringent and important,” Svalander continued.
Satellite Communication SA provides solutions, market hardware, Iridium, Inmarsat and Thuraya. Satellite Communication is also airtime provider for the three satellite companies mentioned above.
Both entities are located at the same address in Switzerland.
