METS opens 25th anniversary show TuesdayPosted on
The Marine Equipment Trade Show that starts Tuesday in Amsterdam will be the 25th anniversary edition of the flagship trade show of the international marine leisure industry.
“METS 2012 is set to be a landmark trade event as we celebrate 25 consecutive annual shows,” METS senior product manager Irene Dros said in a statement. “We are particularly proud to have maintained our loyal following over the past few economically troubled years. More than anything, this has confirmed how much value thousands of international companies place on METS as a must-attend business platform.”
METS is organized by Amsterdam RAI in association with the International Council of Marine Industry Associations.
Incorporating the SuperYacht Pavilion, the central platform for the worldwide superyacht industry, METS 2012 will be held Tuesday through Thursday in the Amsterdam RAI Convention Center. Organizers said the show will attract more than 1,300 exhibitors from more than 39 countries and more than 19,000 professionals from more than 96 countries. Thousands of new and award-winning products will be exhibited.
Organizers also said the show will have 15 national pavilions and an extensive knowledge exchange program.
“It’s the perfect show for product placement and for emerging trends and innovations — of which there are many every year — but above all it’s perfect for networking,” Theo Lingmont, director of international exhibitions for Amsterdam RAI, said in a statement. “We believe in face-to -face contact and that’s what we offer here at Amsterdam RAI.”
Thirty-nine products have been nominated for final judging in the DAME Design Award METS competition. The DAME jury will choose a maximum of seven category winners and one overall winner. The awards will be announced at a breakfast briefing at 8 a.m. Tuesday prior to the start of the show.
