Publisher wins MRAA journalism honorPosted on
Bonnier Corp. group publisher Glenn Hughes received the Jerry Martin Journalism Award for consistent dedication in improving the boating lifestyle and for contributing to the success of the boating trade.
“I am humbled by the award, considering there are so many deserving writers and individuals across our industry,” Hughes said in an email to Soundings Trade Only.
Hughes credited editors and staff who developed the Coast Guard Boating Safety website in conjunction with the Water Sports Industry Association.
“They are the ones that make good ideas come to life,” Hughes said.
Since 1980, the Marine Retailers Association of the Americas has recognized journalists and their media outlets for excellence in supporting the boating industry. In 2009, the MRAA Journalism Award was renamed the Jerry Martin Journalism Award.
The award was presented last week by Martin Flory Group general manager Kelly Flory at the MRAA annual lunch during the Marine Dealer Conference & Expo.
“For the past 25 years I’ve been incredibly fortunate to work with great people within our company and across the marine industry, and I’ve learned so much,” Hughes said. “I look forward to giving back as best I can for the next 25 years.”
