This roundup of upcoming shows and events includes news from the Ocean Reef Clubs Vintage Weekend in the Florida Keys and the Portland (Ore.) Boat Show.
History Flight, a non-profit foundation, will bring the North American B-25H Mitchell Barbie III to the Ocean Reef Club in the Florida Keys Nov. 29-Dec. 2 during the 18th annual Vintage Weekend.
Made famous in the Doolittle Raid on Japan, the first retaliatory strike after the United States entered World War II, the B-25 became a symbol of American air power during the war. The B-25H “Barbie III,” owned and operated by History Flight, is the last H-model B-25 flying in the world and the only one equipped with the unique 75mm cannon in the nose for ground attack purposes.
Vintage Weekend showcases some of the worlds finest classic and antique yachts, aircraft and automobiles. The show brings together classic yachts, revered automobiles and meticulously restored working aircraft that will fly in to the clubs own 4,456-foot lighted runway.
Honey Fitz, the restored presidential yacht of John F. Kennedy, also will be on display.
The 53rd annual Portland (Ore.) Boat Show will return Jan. 9-13 to the Portland Expo Center.
Organizers said hundreds of boats will be shipped to the expo center, including sailboats, sportboats, wakeboard boats, fishing boats, pleasure craft, personal watercraft and a large houseboat.
Top local and national manufacturers, associations and dealers, boating retailers, accessory suppliers and experts and boaters from throughout the Northwest are expected to attend.
The expo center is on North Marine Drive. Show hours will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Jan. 9-12 and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Jan. 13. General admission is $10. Children 12 and younger will be admitted free.
