Developer plans new marina in North Carolina

Posted on

North Carolina-based developer USA InvestCo announced plans to construct a 204-slip marina on the Cape Fear River in downtown Wilmington, N.C.

Port City Marina is under construction and a grand opening is scheduled for next summer. The floating docks will accommodate boats as large as 130 feet.

The first full-service marina in the downtown area will provide all of the amenities and conveniences of a modern marina, including on-site restaurants, fuel, pumpout, high-speed wireless Internet service and a customer service-oriented staff.

Within walking distance boaters will find locally owned shops and restaurants, as well as an art and cultural scene, the Riverwalk and the historic district. The Wilmington area has more than 30 miles of shoreline and access to three beaches — Wrightsville, Carolina, and Kure — a short drive away.

Yuck. The Cape Fear River is pretty nasty. Of course this will lead to increased business as there will be a need for hull washing.
