My-Villages, the newly launched online collaborative based in Alexandria, Va., for consumers, service providers and product manufacturers, named Kenton Smith Marketing to handle its North American public relations activities and to support other key marketing and media initiatives, effective immediately.
“We were seeking to partner on the PR front with a knowledgeable marine industry marketing and PR expert and are very pleased to be working with Wanda Kenton Smith of Kenton Smith Marketing,” My-Villages founder and CEO Kevin Hutchinson said in a statement.
“Wanda offers 30-plus years of experience in this industry, with an impressive roster of power and sail accounts, as well as experience as a journalist on the editorial front. She has the unique advantage of having worked closely with dealers, manufacturers, suppliers and boating consumers. Her professional connections, coupled with her PR and marketing expertise in the marine industry, will be a major asset in the launch and ongoing PR and marketing development of My-Villages.”
Kenton Smith is a national and international award-winning marketer with a specialty in marine. Besides her marketing consulting business, which supports both marine and non-marine accounts, she has served as a marketing columnist for Soundings Trade Only since 1998 and is the former editor of Sail America News and Waypoints.
She is president of the Marine Marketers of America, speaks regularly at national and regional events on marketing topics and has trained more than 1,000 marine dealers on women’s markets and other topics.
