Becket and Company named Ryan Caywood operations manager.
The yacht management company, which has offices in Boston and Newport, R.I., said Caywood brings more than 14 years of professional experience in the marine industry.
“Ryan’s experience in a variety of spaces in our industry leaves him well positioned to deliver the Becket and Company experience to our clients,” owner James Strohacker said in a statement.
The company said Caywood will spend time in the field managing the team responsible for cleaning, polishing and provisioning the boats under Becket management as well as working with clients aboard their boats through Becket’s Confidence On The Water program.
Caywood also will manage refits and yard periods for Becket-managed yachts.
Prior to joining Becket, Caywood captained private sail- and motoryachts, cruising extensively in the Northwest, through the Inside Passage and Glacier Bay, Alaska, as well as throughout the East Coast, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean and Mediterranean.
He spent five years aboard tugboats in a variety of Eastern Seaboard ports as deckhand and engineer. The company said his knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems served as a foundation for sound refit and project management skills.
The company said one of his more memorable projects was a two-year refit of a historic 12 Meter racing yacht on which he served as captain and refit site manager. Caywood is also an accomplished sailor and has raced professionally.
