Wavecraft USA names new CEO

smith0124Wavecraft USA, maker of the Waveblade handheld marine power tool, appointed Steve Smith as the company’s new chief executive officer.

Wavecraft director of marketing and sales Wendy Benge made the announcement today. Smith’s role will be global, but will focus on the United States.

Wavecraft said Smith brings more than 30 years of business background in sales and marketing to the company, including serving as vice president, Europe, for Polaroid Corp., based in Cambridge, Mass.

Port Angeles, Wash.-based Wavecraft said he also has experience gained from living and working around the globe.

“Steve’s expert direction and guidance will enable us to utilize our full resources as we plan for growth in additional markets,” Benge said in a statement.

The Waveblade portable barnacle removal tool uses a patented vibrating mechanism to safely and effectively oscillate marine fouling from hulls and other marine surfaces.  It can be used as much as 15 feet underwater. A choice of blades is available to target delicate or hard-to-reach spots.
