Yamaha Watercraft expanded its jetboat plant in Vonore, Tenn.

Yamaha invested $3 million to expand the facility to 40,000 feet, according to WBIR, an NBC affiliate. The company bought an additional 7 acres at the site and will create as many as 100 new jobs at the facility, where 340 people already work.

The director of industrial and economic development for Monroe County told the NBC affiliate that this is Yamaha’s third expansion there in the last 10 years.

With the most recent expansion, Yamaha Watercraft has become the largest manufacturer of sportboats in the world, Yamaha CEO and president Toshizumi Koto said at a ribbon cutting last week, The Monroe County Advocate reported. Record profits have been recorded after production increased 200 percent in 2012, Koto said.
