Yamaha Marine Group promoted Jonathon Burns to senior manager of its marine business planning and supply chain operations division.

Burns will continue to lead the marine operations teams, which now include outboard supply chain management and marine rigging and parts operations, as well as overall production planning, new business planning and market intelligence under Yamaha Marine Group vice president Dean Burnett.

“In his expanded role Jonathon will help consolidate critical functions for faster decision-making and ensure strategic pricing across all operations teams,” Burnett said in a statement. “With increased product demand these synergies are essential to provide the best service to our customers.”

Yamaha said Burns also will lead and develop a new training program for marine employees with support from each division.

macleod0328Margaret Macleod was named executive director of The Apprenticeshop in Rockland, Maine.

The 40-year-old school for traditional boatbuilding and seamanship said Macleod’s hiring comes at an important moment in its growth. The school said it is simultaneously designing a new curriculum to better meet the needs of apprentices and boatbuilders, expanding its community sailing opportunities on the Rockland waterfront, successfully pursuing an ambitious 5-year capital campaign and building new wooden boats.

The Apprenticeshop said Macleod, of Rockport, was interim executive director since mid-December after Eric Stockinger left. She previously was The Apprenticeshop’s development director for more than three years.

“All of us who worked with Margaret while she led The Apprenticeshop’s development program found in her the leadership talent, spirit and dedication needed now to guide the shop and its new program offerings into its next 40 years. She’ll be a great executive director,” The Apprenticeshop board co-chairman Tom Wood said in a statement.
