Chicago in-water show returns in June

The Progressive Insurance Chicago In-Water Boat Show, the Midwest’s largest in-water show, will take place June 13-16 at the new 31st Street Harbor.

The 2013 Progressive Insurance Chicago In-Water Boat Show will feature more than 150 power and sailboats for sale, dozens of vendors showcasing the latest in marine accessories and gear, and attractions for all ages on land and water, including free paddlesports on Lake Michigan and on-water boater education for all levels of experience.

The show’s second year will be at the 31st Street Harbor, Chicago’s newest state-of-the-art marina, and will offer Chicagoans a chance to get out on the water.

Highlights include:

• Take the helm at the Discover Boating Dock: free powerboat and sailing lessons that offer attendees the opportunity to learn everything from boating safety to advanced docking and precision control.

• Jump in Lake Michigan: Cool off at Try it Cove with water activities, including kayak and stand up paddleboard lessons and demos.

• Underwater fun: Learn how to scuba-dive at the DEMA ‘Be a Diver Pool.’ Everything is provided, including scuba gear and certified instructors in a heated, tropical pool. Just bring a swimsuit.

• Shopper’s Nautical Paradise. View and board more than 150 of the newest boat models of the year. From luxury yachts to family cruisers, there’s a boat for every lifestyle and budget on display, plus sales on the latest marine technology, apparel and accessories.
