Texas in-water show opens ThursdayPosted on
The South West International Boat Show returns this week to the South Shore Harbour Marina on Clear Lake in League City, Texas.
The fifth annual show opens Thursday and continues through Sunday and will feature more than 400 boats in and out of the water, including models from sailboat builders Jeanneau, Hunter, Beneteau, Lagoon, Catalina and Dufour alongside boats ranging in size from 15 to more than 80 feet that will include catamarans, sportfishing boats, motoryachts, center consoles, cruisers, ski boats and bayboats.
The show also offers a variety of vendors with the latest accessories and technologies; fishing, boating and sailing gear; engines; marine electronics; products and services; and gifts and apparel.
The show will feature, for the second year, free (with paid admission) hourly seminars across all four days, hosted by industry experts. The seminars will take place at the South Shore Harbour Hotel on-site.
Attendees also will be able to take advantage of other free events: riding on a Yamaha-powered 36-foot Yellowfin; taking a Discover Sailing sailboat ride; and learning to dive at the Be A Diver Pool. The show also will include a selection of on-water learning events with Discover Boating.
Geico is the presenter and title sponsor, and the insurer’s presence will include the Miss Geico Racing Team, led by the Throttle Man, Scotty Begovich, who will be signing autographs and be ready for photos. Geico also will exhibit two of its offshore powerboats, the Caveman and Miss Geico. The Miss Geico motorcycle, ATV and 100 mph-plus jet ski also will be displayed.
Organizers said the event is the Southwest’s premier power and sail show, the largest in-water boat show in Texas and the only boat show in the state that is endorsed by Sail America.
