Yacht & Brokerage Show holds annual fundraiserPosted on
More than 300 people attended the third annual opening party at the Yacht & Brokerage Show in Miami Beach, raising more than $14,000 to benefit Shake-A-Leg-Miami.
The charitable event was hosted by the Florida Yacht Brokers Association and the Fort Lauderdale Mariners Club. Shake-A-Leg Miami is a nonprofit organization that works with children and adults with physical, developmental and economic challenges in a marine environment, utilizing therapeutic water-sports.
The party was held Feb. 13 at the shows Goslings Dark & Stormy Floating Cocktail Barge on Collins Avenue in Miami Beach. The show ran from Feb. 14-18.
We were pleased to see so many people attend what has become one of the most highly anticipated social events of the Yacht & Brokerage Show in Miami Beach, Frank De Varona, an FYBA board member who is president and co-founder of Yachting Experts, based in Coconut Grove, Fla., said in a statement. Both the attendance and amount of money raised this year exceeded last years levels. The event offered everyone a chance to unwind before the start of what turned out to be a very successful show.
We are grateful to all those who attended this years event and helped make it such a resounding success, Shake-A-Leg Miami president and founder Harry Horgan said in a statement. Once again, the proceeds from this event will help us in our continuing efforts to continue using the marine environment in working to help improve the health, education and independence of people with disabilities, disadvantaged youth, and their families.
