ABYC adds NMMA president to its board

Posted on Written by Michael LaBella

The American Boat & Yacht Council named National Marine Manufacturers Association president Thom Dammrich and Ulrich Heinemann of the National Marine Certification Institute as its newest board members.

Exiting as a board member, but remaining on the ABYC’s technical board is Tom Marhevko, vice president of engineering standards at the NMMA. Cindy L. Squires, formerly of the NMMA and now executive vice president at the International Wood Products Association, was awarded the ABYC Horizon Award for consistent contributions to the future success and growth of the ABYC and the recreational marine industry.

The ABYC’s outgoing chairman, George Bellwoar, vice president of sales and marketing at Perko Inc., received the ABYC C.T. “Skip” Moyer Leadership Award for exemplifying the leadership qualities of the past president through his work, personal sacrifices and contributions to boating safety.

“I am extremely proud to be a part of this esteemed leadership team,” ABYC president John Adey said in a statement. “With Chairman [Jack] Hornor being the second marine surveyor to head our board and with broad representation from the industry, boating safety has excellent champions in ABYC.”
