Airmar reports growth in transducer salesPosted on
Since Airmar Technology Corp. introduced its award-winning CHIRP-ready broadband transducers to the U.S. market in 2012, demand has increased worldwide, the company announced.
Since it introduced CHIRP-ready broadband transducers (compressed high-intensity radar pulse technology) to the high-end European sportfishing market a year ago, the company said sales of the product have increased 67 percent for Airmar EMEA, which serves markets in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
The company said Airmar EMEA is seeing the fastest-growing market for CHIRP technology in Scandinavia in the commercial and sportfishing environments. Despite the difficult economy in Europe, overall sales for Airmar EMEA are up 12 percent for the year to date, the company said.
“I foresee tremendous opportunities and continued sales growth for CHIRP products in Europe and the region because of the additional support Airmar EMEA can provide to distributors, installers and system integrators looking to incorporate CHIRP technology into their product lines,” Airmar EMEA general manager Bertrand Picarda said in a statement. “In addition to our team’s expertise in marine electronics, our knowledge of big game and European fishing is key to our ability to assist customers with the proper selection, installation and operation of CHIRP-ready broadband transducers, including integration with CHIRP fishfinding machines.”
Airmar received the 2012 National Marine Electronics Association Product Award for the company’s CHIRP-ready broadband transducers.
