Awlgrip holds interior-design contestPosted on
AkzoNobels Awlgrip launched its second annual Future Interior Design competition, a contest aimed at new and aspiring superyacht interior designers.
Awlgrip is challenging interior designers to show how innovative design can utilize new materials to produce interiors that can be more stylish, increasingly ergonomic and easier to build than ever before. Due to increasing demand and interest, this years competition has been opened to a wider selection of people.
The competition is now open to those who have started interior design positions in the ;ast 24 months, instead of being confined to second- and third-year design students and those who have graduated in the past 12 months, as last years competition was.
As in 2012, the winning designer will receive a $7,500 cash prize, as well as the chance to have the winning design shown at this years Monaco Yacht Show and the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show during what is a celebratory time for Awlgrip, its 40th anniversary year.
The challenge again is to produce a design that the judges will conclude is the best-looking, most ergonomic, easiest to build and features the most innovative use of the new Awlgrip products. This can be as straightforward as a storage or vanity unit, something more technically challenging, such as a crew workspace, or even a solution for where the aesthetic ideal meets engineering constraints, such as a bridge console.
