Drawbridge closure moved to help Connecticut showPosted on
Amtrak changed the date of the Old Lyme Drawbridge closure so it won’t conflict with the Essex (Conn.) Spring Boat Show, which is scheduled for April 26-28.
The Connecticut Marine Trades Association announced that the bridge will be closed at 6 p.m. on April 19 and is expected to be reopened for normal traffic by the evening of April 24.
The bridge will be closed so the main gearbox can be replaced with a new one, but the channel will remain open and unobstructed for all navigation. Officials hope the repairs can be completed in less than the planned five days.
The boat show brings together Soundings, Brewer Dauntless Shipyard & Marina and six Essex-based dealers and brokers: Boatworks Yacht Sales, Wilde Yacht Sales, Eastland Yachts, Hank Aldrich Yacht Sales, Prestige Yacht Sales and Essex Marine Group.
More than 50 boats from 23 to 60 feet will be on display — sail and power, new and used. The show runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day at the Brewer Dauntless Marina at 9 Novelty Lane. Admission and parking are free.
