The American Boating Congress, which takes place May 8-9 on Capitol Hill, is offering a free webinar April 18 to help attendees prepare for the event, which is designed to let policymakers hear the marine industry’s perspective on crucial issues.

The webinar will take place from 2 to 3 p.m. EDT and will review the most important industry issues and how businesses and stakeholders can best communicate their perspectives to members of Congress.

The webinar will cover:

• The state of the U.S. recreational boating industry: how economic conditions affect marine jobs, sales and production

• Developments on ethanol policy and the ongoing legal challenge against the Environmental Protection Agency

• Tax issues that will affect businesses’ bottom line

• Information about the National Marine Manufacturers Association’s work on issues of access to Biscayne National Park, Everglades National Park and the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary

This year’s ABC has already confirmed several legislative speakers, including U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., and Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va. Also confirmed to speak are Deerin Babb-Brott, director of the National Ocean Council Office; Coast Guard Rear Adm. William “Dean” Lee; Kenneth Walsh, White House correspondent at U.S. News and World Report; and Frank Peterson, president of the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation.

The 2013 ABC is co-hosted by 31 industry organizations.
