MasterCraft extends deal with Ilmor Marine

Posted on

MasterCraft Boat Co. and performance powertrain engineer Ilmor Marine announced that they will extend their exclusive partnership for another three years.

MasterCraft began its relationship with Ilmor in 2008 and launched Ilmor’s new recreational MV8 marine engine line in 2010. Ilmor’s engine models have since made gains in power, fuel economy and reliability, resulting in 80 percent fewer filed engine warranty claims during the past three years, MasterCraft said in a statement.

“MasterCraft is very pleased with the relationship we have with the extraordinary team at Ilmor, so when the opportunity presented itself to further extend that partnership we jumped at it,” MasterCraft president and CEO Terry McNew said in a statement. “Within a short amount of time, Ilmor has proven to be the unequivocal leader in tow sports powertrain engineering. As a result, when you take Ilmor’s exceptional drive to be the engineering standard and couple it with MasterCraft’s desire to offer leading product and innovations that give our consumers the best on-water experience, we believe you have something that, quite frankly, is beyond anything our competitors can offer.”

Founded in 1984 by Mario Illien, Paul Morgan and Roger Penske, Ilmor has won more than 260 IndyCar races, 17 Indianapolis 500s and two Formula 1 World Championships. In 2003 Ilmor entered the marine industry and has developed recreational and performance engines ranging from 320 hp to 725 hp.
