At a special meeting on April 8, the board of the Michigan Boating Industries Association chose Nicki Polan to be its executive director. Polan had been interim executive director for the last five months and was the trade group’s director of communications for nearly 25 years.

“We are very pleased Nicki Polan has accepted the position of MBIA’s executive director,” MBIA board chairman Jim Coburn said in a statement. “Nicki brings a wealth of experience and focused dedication to her new position at MBIA. We look forward to her continued leadership and success in the future.”

“I’m pleased to have this opportunity to facilitate the future direction of our association for the MBIA board and members,” Polan said in a statement. “We have a strong staff, a dedicated board of directors and loyal members at the foundation of this association and we are all dedicated to helping our industry grow.”

Polan joined the MBIA in 1988 and has earned a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and a master’s degree in management and marketing from Walsh College in Troy, Mich. She is a member of the Michigan Society of Association Executives and is a graduate of its academy.

Nicki Polan is an excellent choice for the postition of MBIA Executive Director. As everyone in the boating business knows, if you don’t love the boating business you will never be successful in the boating business. If you have ever met Nicki Polan you already know she has the passion for boating and the people skills to expand our reach as an organization. Congratulations Nicki!

I would really like to say congrats to Nicki. I have had the great pleasure of working with Nicki as a fellow operator in the Association business. She has consistently brought great ideas and insight to the table at the NMTC meetings and I truly feel that she is one of this industries greatest advocates and I wish her nothing but success and in her new position. I feel like I speak for the entire group here in Houston as I tip my hat to you and express our immense happiness to have you for the future.
