Sandy-damaged Cleveland marina cancels season

Posted on

Hurricane Sandy might be just a bad memory for most marine businesses, but two Midwest marinas are still cleaning up from the October storm, and one of them is throwing in the towel for the 2013 season.

Edgewater Public Marina in Cleveland recently let customers know that it will be closed for the 2013 season as it repairs the heavy damage Sandy inflicted. About 30 boats sank at the marina, its owners told Fox 8 News.

The rebuild will cost at least $4.3 million, the owner says — about $1.3 million for demolition and $3 million for new docks and electrical lines.

A nearby marina that the storm also damaged is expected to open after a delayed start to this year’s season.
