Fort Lauderdale meeting to review marine industry issues

Posted on

Fort Lauderdale commissioners will hold a special meeting Monday to discuss the marine industry, one of the city’s most important economic drivers.

The purpose of the meeting is to review the state of the industry and ways to ensure its economic vitality in the city, the Sun Sentinel reported.

Part of the discussion will be about the proposed expansion of the Las Olas Marina as a way to capture more of the luxury yacht market. A recent study suggested that many of the megayachts visiting the region must pass the city by “due to a lack of suitable depths and berthing” to handle them.
