Hinckley touts work at its Maine boatyard

Posted on

The Hinckley Company is celebrating its 85th anniversary this year.

Equipped with a 160-ton Travelift, the company’s Southwest Harbor yard in Maine has a work force of 55 and has worked on more than 100 Talaria Jet and Picnic Boats, and Hinckley sail and other sail- and power yachts, the company said in a statement.

The company said the 113,000-square-foot work space, which is mostly heated, was filled this winter with brands such as Alden, Morris, Lyman-Morse, Grand Banks, Sabre, C&C, Bertram and Viking.

“Discerning owners come to Hinckley because this yard can provide the service and expertise that most yards can’t and the rest won’t,” the yard’s new operations manager, Will Ratcliff, said in a statement. “Henry Hinckley said, ‘If you want the job done right, you have to do it yourself.’ That way of thinking is imbued in this crew.”
