Marlow marks milestones with recent shipments

Posted on

The first Mainship — now called the Marlow-Mainship 32, built since emerging from Chapter 11 restructuring and being purchased by Marlow-Hunter LLC — recently shipped. It’s the first Mainship produced since the company ceased operations in February 2012.

“By expanding into the trawler market with the introduction of the Mainship line, it has allowed us to diversify and bring employment levels up threefold from a year ago,” Marlow-Hunter president John Peterson said in a statement.

David Marlow introduced the Marlow-Mainship 32 at the Miami International Boat Show as the first in a revival and upgrade of Mainship’s trawler line. The yellow-hulled sedan trawler — named Buttercup — is the first new design from Mainship since Marlow, the chairman of Marlow Yachts, purchased Mainship and Hunter sailboats’ assets out of bankruptcy last August.

Marlow-Hunter also shipped its 100th keel sailboat since closing on the purchase of Hunter assets and selected assets of Mainship last summer.

“Looking forward into the future with our motto of building each boat better than before, it is important to stop and reflect on these milestones,” David Marlow said in a statement. “In a bit over seven months, in a very challenging marketplace, our dealers and our customers have responded with enthusiasm to the combined efforts of all our employees to deliver Marlow-Hunter boats of the highest quality. And with the shipment of the first Mainship, the Marlow-Mainship 32, we have solidified our position in the marketplace by exhibiting our manufacturing flexibility to produce and market both power and sail.”

The new Marlow-Hunter-produced boats are being readied for trucking to the Northeast.

“New boats through a well-thought out development schedule bring to the marketplace fresh new features that provide the benefits to today’s boaters,” Peterson said.

Marlow-Hunter LLC markets and produces a line of sailboats and trawlers from 14 to 50 feet distributed throughout the world via 126 dealers.

The marine industry needs devoted and passionate “boat people” who give and get a fair shake. There is little or no room or reward if money is the only goal .

Congratulations and Kudos to the team at Marlow Hunter and Marlow Mainship.
