The International Marina Institute, the training subsidiary of the Association of Marina Industries, published its annual fall events brochure on its website, including information and detailed schedules for the events.
The events include the Drystack Conference Oct. 27-28 in Fort Lauderdale; the Southeast Florida Marina and Boatyard Study Tour Oct. 29-30, based out of Fort Lauderdale; and Marina Makeover: An Interactive Experience Nov. 16-17 in Rosemont, Ill.
Drystack Conference: The Drystack Conference is a two-day professional-development opportunity for those interested in the latest in drystack technology as part of their daily business responsibilities. The conference will feature seminars, exhibits and networking receptions. Topics include project feasibility, a Pianc working group update, drystack facility insurance and new dry-storage technologies.
Southeast Florida Marina and Boatyard Study Tour, Oct. 2930: IMI’s Southeast Florida Marina and Boatyard Study Tour is a mobile classroom that takes students on tours of seven leading marinas over the course of two days. Marinas this year include Aquamarina Hidden Harbour, Bradford Marine, Lauderdale Marine Center, New Port Cove Marine Center, Palm Harbor Marina, The Port Condominium, Rybovich Superyacht Marina & Retrofit Facility, Sunrise Harbor Marina, and The Town of Palm Beach. At the end of each day, industry expert Brad St. Coeur will lead a facilitated discussion and SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats).
Marina Makeover: An Interactive Experience, Nov. 1617: Marina Makeover: An Interactive Experience is based on the methods IMI uses in its Advanced Marina Management courses to train certified marina managers. Participants will choose an existing marina facility and work in small, facilitated teams to perform a case study. The teams will then redesign those facilities, increasing the participants overall ability to design, upgrade and maintain marinas. Each group will present its findings and suggestions to the rest of the workshop participants.
