Ocean conservation and education is of utmost importance to Yamaha, and thats why we are so pleased to support the incredible research being conducted by the Ocearch team, Yamaha marketing division manager Dale Barnes said in a statement.
The expeditions advance learning through a curriculum featuring the Global Shark Tracker, a learning tool being developed by Landry’s.
Ocearch has multiyear funding from Caterpillar for field research that generates knowledge in near real time. Sixteen expeditions have been completed to date, and more than 30 research papers are in process or completed in collaboration with more than 20 institutions and 50 scientists.
During the next few years, Ocearch will travel to the Southeast and Northeast coasts of the United States, the Far East and the Galapagos Islands to complete eight additional expeditions.
We are so pleased to have Yamaha on our team again as our official outboard motor sponsor, Ocearch founding chairman and expedition leader Chris Fischer said in a statement. The bottom line is if equipment fails on us, serious consequences can occur. That is why we only use the most dependable equipment in the world. When it comes to outboard power we need to capture mature white sharks over 4,000 pounds while maximizing the safety of our crew, there is only one choice its Yamaha.
