College student wins yacht design award

Posted on

designer0702Stefano Inglese won the Young Designer of the Year Award at the ShowBoats Design Awards for his project Granturismo.

Inglese, an advanced architectural design student at Sapienza University of Rome, said the silhouette of Granturismo sports cars inspired his yacht design.

“The idea was to deliver the same feelings one has when traveling en plein air in a sports car,” Inglese said in a statement. “The boat is made to communicate to the non-rational side of the human soul … placing human emotions and the joy of life in first place.”

The award ceremony was presented by Boat International Media on June 21 at the Monaco Opera House. The Young Designer of the Year Award is sponsored by superyacht builder Oceanco.
