Gekko Tow Boats restarts productionPosted on
Gekko Tow Boats recently restarted production after it was reacquired by company founder Mark Overbye, who has teamed with Tennessee-based Ebbtide Boats.
“Ebbtide has been building quality boats for over 40 years and is known the world over as a solid builder with a great reputation,” Overbye said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to be building Gekkos again and we have a fresh lineup for 2014 with new Indmar engines, new interiors, towers, dashes, graphics, ballast and more. Our passion for water sports will be very evident in the 2014 collection.”
Gekko will also be built in Tennessee. Street pricing on the new Gekko V drives is expected to start at about $58,000 with 330-hp Indmar engines. Pricing on Gekko’s GTR 22 world championship towboat opens at $42,000, and company management is working to bring the GTS 20 back at a price point below $30,000.
Gekko’s 2014 models will feature digital throttle controls, standard speed control with Zero Off option, Fusion stereos with wireless Bluetooth connectivity, top-end steering systems, a unique tower design and automotive touches.
Gekko’s website and social media are in evolutionary stages with continuous updates along the production path.
