Amtech board member loses cancer battlePosted on
Association of Marine Technicians board member James Stephen Marable of James Island, S.C., died Aug. 17 after a battle with cancer. He was 56.
Marable was the owner of Island Outboard Services in Johns Island, former master mechanic for The Citadel and formerly employed by the Department of Health and Environmental Control. Marable was a former member of the James Island Yacht Club, and a member and elder of James Island Presbyterian Church.
Marable had served on Amtech’s board as a member at-large since 2009. “He was extremely helpful during the National Marine Service Expo and was always eager to help others,” Amtech president Joseph De Marco said in a statement.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Marable, and a son, James “Jamie” S. Marable Jr., both of James Island; a grandson, Ryder Corbin; and two sisters, Nancy Livingston of Gilbert, S.C., and Jane Adams of Panama City, Fla. He was predeceased by a son, Timothy Marable.
